That specific shade of green you get on some tree leaves, that color which transforms the sunlight that penetrates through it into something vibrant and optimistic, filling the environment with positivity, is truly one of the small things in life worth enjoying.
Having a Gavel discussion under such an environment was truly magical and heightened the experience.
Seated in a circle under one such tree, and starting off the discussion with the much talked about Titan submersible, the conversation touched upon many facets of that disaster, including the ethics of such explorations and also the stark contrast with how we collectively react to instances like that versus situations much more horrifying, albeit normalized by the news cycle.
This discussion then veered into a more controversial territory, namely, pride parades and feminism, which brought about varied views and insightful thoughts, where many ideas were exchanged in a cordial and respectful manner.
Inspired by the plethora of opinions given on controversial topics, the conversation found its way into Twitter and its rampant eternal online chaos and fighting, which made for couple of hearty laughs and jokes being shared.
Amidst these diverse topics, the hassle of academics was not forgotten.
Tales of confusing tests and misunderstandings, unsympathetic lecturers and insurmountable course contents brought both laughter and unlocked memories of anguish within the crowd.
Local controversies such as the new trend of building temples on top of rocks also inspired much discussion, as did more lighthearted themes like birthday blues, which also prompted many to share personal anecdotes of their own.
Casually gathered there, discussing the heaviest topics and still finding room for the most lighthearted ones too, you are filled with a sense of relaxation and peace, as the soothing breeze cools your nerves. You too get to give your own opinions, no matter how new you are, and get to share your own experiences and anecdotes. My favorite part of this meeting was how easy it was to get along with everyone and how enriching it was. It’s always mentally stimulating to hear opinions which differ from your own, not to mention how it helps you broaden your horizons and find out the most bizarre and thought-provoking facts. It is not always that you get such chances to both listen and share your own thoughts, and those hours spent under the clear blue sky will always be a treasured memory for me.
