It wasn’t merely a Gavel meeting; that day held even greater significance as it marked our special Presentation Workshop Day, “Beyond Words.” Former Vice President GV Mayuri and former President GV Susara delivered an impressive presentation—calling it “cool” wouldn’t do it justice; it was truly beyond words, undoubtedly the most delightful presentation we’ve ever experienced.
The moment I walked into the room and saw the pink balloons, I knew something fun was about to unfold! The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, and I could already sense the day would be unforgettable. All the Gaveliers were dressed in pink, adding to the vibrant energy of the day, which was filled with so much fun. The presentation centered around food, and it was incredibly engaging to showcase the skills we need in such a foodie way that captured everyone’s interest.
We played several entertaining games, including charades and Simon Says, making it an unforgettable experience. Guessing songs during charades was a blast, and the excitement soared with the fun of popping balloons to grab the chits. It became clear that the games weren’t just for entertainment; they were thoughtfully incorporated to help us develop key presentation skills, such as nonverbal communication, quick thinking, and active listening. In the Simon Says game, if you messed up, there was a “special” drink waiting for you, a super sour concoction whipped up by Gavelier Nuhaa. Let’s just say, one sip and you’d follow Simon’s instructions perfectly the next time! I still remember the 4736251 games, trying to put my mind at ease but failing miserably—and instead, ending up laughing alongside the sweet Gaveliers.
In the presentation, we got the lowdown on all the essentials: reading the room, keeping it clear and structured, making visuals pop, engaging the audience, owning the stage with confidence, timing it right, using great body language, prepping for anything, and staying open to feedback. All these key factors were covered, providing valuable insights into delivering an effective and engaging talk.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in organizing and presenting at the workshop. A huge shoutout to our two amazing presenters of the day, Mayuri Akka and Susara Aiya, as well as the committee that organized this invaluable workshop. Your efforts and expertise made it an incredibly enriching experience, and I’m genuinely grateful for the insights and skills I’ve gained. Your dedication has truly set the stage for our future success, and I’m excited to apply all the new tricks and skills in my next presentations. Thank you for setting us up for success.
